Here are just a few things I've learned over the years that tend to work. I cannot follow these all the time as I only human but I do my best.
1. Be nice.
I great way to live a happier life is to consciously be more pleasant to everyone around you. This may sound easy but you will be tested constantly, sometimes you just want to murder(figuratively of course) the people that are acting poorly towards you but try to rise above the negativity and not let it ruin your day.The simple act of giving a kind smile or a warm hello to a stranger, has the potential to turn someone's day completely around you just never know.
2. Don't assume.
The old saying "Assuming only makes an ass of u and me" is so true, if you avoid assuming what someone will say, how they will act or what they are thinking and many arguments in your life can be avoided. Give people the benefit of the doubt, you just cannot possibly understand everything others are going through even those that are close to you give them a chance and they may surprise you.
3. Appreciate what you have in your life.
Everyday try and think of something that you are glad to have in your life; it could be a person, Dunkin' Donuts, pie, the Internet, pizza or the very fact that you are alive on this planet today! Your life is filled with a million different thing to be thankful for if you only take the time to think about it.
4. Carpe Diem.
Seize the day, make today matter, do not wait until tomorrow to say what needs to be said, to make a change, to have a good time or to live your live. You can learn from the past, you can plan for the future, but you can only have an on effect right now.
5. Don't settle.
If something isn't right change it, if you can do better, do better! Fight for your life to be the best it can possibly be, saying enough is enough and changing the system is humanity's greatest strength and you have that ability in you.
6. Don't judge people.
Respect everyone, people being diverse is what makes this world great. Do not treat individuals who are different from you poorly, if they are disabled, Muslim, Jewish, an Atheist, have tattoos, talk differently, are gay, liberal, conservative, shy, foreign, black, white or blonde, treat them all the same!
7. Don't worry.
Try to limit the amount of time spent worrying about things you cannot change, how people see you or what the future holds. Some worry is healthy but it can become all consuming and you can forget to live, Everything will work out in the end somehow.
Best yet! Love the pie reference!
