Happiness is in the details.
Most people build their lives around the major events: the graduations, the weddings, the birthdays, the holidays, etc. Although I do cherish these things, what makes the random little things that happen everyday, any less beautiful? Every single second of existence is absolutely bursting with sublime perfection and breathtaking imperfection. There are so many truly amazing things happening all around us. For example, there is something inexplicably radiant about a sunset, it happens everyday but remains special if you take the time to pay attention.
All of this may sound a little melodramatic but I feel it to be true. I think it is very important to take a moment to look around from time to time and really absorb the world. Take a break from your all worries and just be; let the moment wash over you and realize that you only exist right now. From one moment to the next it is impossible to know exactly what will have a profound effect on us. We must try and be open to the unexpected joy that comes to us. The bulk of my most vivid memories are of seemly unimportant things but they had an effect on me and there is power in that. My mind is filled with so many random facts like: obscure song lyrics, movie and TV trivia, strange historical tidbits, dinosaur names, Internet memes, and where every popcorn stand in Disney World is. Each person's little quirks make them one-of-a-kind, unique. Sometimes what we love the most about someone is the tiny indescribable details that make them who they are. These little things make up who I am and I am grateful for that, they sustain me when times get tough. Enjoy the little bits and pieces, because its all you have some days.
