About Mike

My name is Mike Mort and I am living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, which is a progressive muscle weakening disorder. I have been using a wheelchair for over ten years and breath with the assistance of a ventilator. I have learned to see my situation as simply different, not necessarily worse and by no means inspiring. I believe that everyone has a very unique set of strengths and weaknesses. Although I may have a somewhat positive outlook, that does not mean I am immune to the frustrations of life. 

In my life I take pride in the fact that I volunteer for Make-A-Wish Central New York as their Social Media Manager. I’m a huge film enthusiast and love music, also a good conversation can occupy me for hours. With this blog I would like to share just what it means to be me, to put into words how I see the world.
